3rd Gen 4runner Roof Rack
We designed a simple roof rack for our personal 01 4runner a few years ago, and have getting ask questions ever since we posted it. That leads us here, this dxf file will allow you to have the cut and formed locally or from one of many online company's like Oshcut or SendCutSend.
These side rails were designed with 3/16" aluminum in mind, and use the standard 1x2 extrusion. The dxf file does contain a driver and passenger side rail. You only need to have 1 rail cut if you don't care about the logo orientation. We found that 44" crossbars are the best length, and those can be found at Tnutz (black or silver). The extrusion from Tnutz comes cut and with tapped holes.
The mounting feet we also designed with 3/16" material in mind. It's important to only use 3/16" on the mounting feet due to the k-factor input for the bends. Each rack will need 4 mounting feet, and the holes fit a 1/4" screw. Mounting feet can be secured to your factory rails with the Yakima Anchor Plate "A".
If you're only interested in some new crossbars, we have the covered too. You can purchase our extrusion end caps to go along with the mounting feet. You'll get 2 versions of caps, 1 is slot for easy installation of t-nuts, and the other is solid. Both are intended to be cut from 1/8" material.
